Join. Learn. SUCCEED.

Last year it felt as if I was in the sky more than I was on the ground. From the East Coast to The West, it was a never-ending journey of exploration. While there were times I got tired and discouraged, I knew that I was cementing the foundation for a future of success. Within a short period of time I was able to meet and create everlasting bonds with driven, strong-minded, sharp individuals from across the U.S. and guess what? They were all under the age of 25. My passion was re-ignited. I recently traveled to Washington, D.C., the meeting place of the U.S. Congress, to visit a good friend/colleague who is currently working on Capitol Hill for a U.S. Senator. To say the least, I’m proud. When I met my friend (Chris) he consistently talked, dreamed, and worked towards a career in politics in America’s capitol. Whenever we would communicate it was a continuous conversation about strategically finding a way into one of the hardest networks to infiltrate. Along with a little faith and hard work, Chris found a way into D.C. and not only that; he secured a high-profile PR client at the same time. I share all this to say that there are still fundamental activities that can and will propel you into the careers, jobs, and life you want. JOIN a professional society: There are a number of professional organizations someone can join to become better acquainted with other professionals in their field. Even more than a social networking tool, it could possibly lead to your next career move or job. I can’t stress the importance of making sure you build a substantial network around you that will point you in the right direction. **If you can’t find an organization or network that caters to your specific career desires, create one. There are a number of people who are looking for the same thing you are. ** Continue to LEARN: Don’t cease to increase your knowledge, and do not let anyone block or hinder your ability to reach for higher education. Become a student of life. Seek out a mentor or someone who cares enough to see the generation after them succeed. Set up a coffee or lunch with someone who works in the field you want to work in. Gain as much knowledge as possible about your career and potential job. Strive to become one of the most notable professionals in your field. SUCCEED: Easier said than done, right? Nevertheless, Success is attainable. But don’t expect it to knock on your door. Make sure you utilize your God-given skills, and always be ready for the right opportunity. Don’t be afraid to hear “NO”. I’ve heard it more times than “YES”, but every time I got that “YES” I made sure to make it count!

Don't become stagnant in your pursuit to reach your goals, and your "custom-made" level of success. It won't be easy, but it will definitely be worth it.
